Which county is your Humboldt address in?

Shade is what kills fences here

Established in-town Humboldt lots come with big trees, and shade is hard on a wood fence in a humid climate. A run that never gets direct sun stays damp for days after a rain. Wood that stays damp rots. The same fence on the open side of the same yard dries out and lasts noticeably longer.

Old chain link, and when it stops being worth fixing

There is a lot of older chain link standing in this town, and it fails in a predictable order. Bottom rail rusts through. Fabric slacks off the tension bar. Line posts take a knock and bend. Tension bands and bars wear out. All of that repairs, and repairs well, on posts that are still sound.

Where it stops making sense is when the fabric itself is rusting through along the length of the run.
